Silk Top vs Mono Top vs Lace Top: Which Hair Topper Base Should You Stock?
For salons, retailers and distributors, the base is the first decision when stocking hair toppers. It decides how the topper looks on the head, how it is fitted, and which customers it suits. Here is a practical comparison of the four bases we stock: silk top, mono top, lace top and PU injection.
Silk top is the most realistic-looking base. The hair is knotted through layers of silk, so the parting looks like hair growing from the scalp. It is the usual choice for customers who part their hair in one place and want the most natural scalp effect. Our silk top range covers 5x3 up to 8x8, including silk top with lace front and silk parting styles, in Virgin and Europe double drawn hair, mostly 130% density, with up to 24 colours on some models.
Mono top is a fine mesh base that is breathable and flexible, and the hair can be parted in any direction. It suits customers who change their parting, and shops that want one versatile base across many clients. Our mono range runs from small 3x5 pieces and mono bangs through 5x6, 6x6.5 and 8x8, plus a large 15x17 V-part mono topper, in 130%–150% density.
Lace top is light and breathable, with a fine lace front that blends into the hairline. HD lace frontal toppers are the thinnest option in our catalogue. Lace suits customers who want a light, undetectable front, and warm-climate markets where breathability matters.
PU injection is a polyurethane skin base with hair injected directly into it. It lies flat, is easy to tape or bond, and gives a clean, low-profile fit. Our PU injection toppers come in 5x6, 6x7 and 8.5x9.5, plus PU parting styles, in 130%–150% density.
A simple rule for stocking: silk top for the most realistic parting, mono top for versatility, lace for a light front, PU injection for a flat, bondable fit.
